What is your service area?We provide testing in: Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Newport News, and surrounding Hampton Roads areas.

How much does testing cost?Blower Door Testing is a flat rate of $295. Duct Blast testing varies according to property size & number of HVAC units. Please complete our form for an accurate rate. We offer low-price testing to ensure that everyone has access to our services. Our prices are guaranteed to be lower than our competitors. If you find a rate lower than ours, send us your quote and we will price-match it!

What qualifications are needed to perform a blower door and duct blast test?Individuals or companies alike should aim for certified and reputable certifications in building performance like: RESNET or Building Performance Institute Certifications (IDL Certification). Your tester must be accurate in setting up, operating, maintaining equipment and calibrating. They must also be able to interpret test results and identify areas of air leakage and duct leakage. Your technician should be able to troubleshoot equipment issues and identify and address potential problems during testing. They must also be knowledgeable about relevant building codes and standards, such as the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)

Who can perform a blower door and duct blast test in the state of Virginia?As per 2018 Virginia Resdiential Code, these professionals are allowed to perform your test: A certified BPI Envelope Professional (IDL, BA-T,BA-P) A certified HERS Rater A certified duct & envelope tightness tester (IDL) A Virginia licensed home inspector A Virginia licensed HVAC contractor A Virginia licensed General Contractor These are the only professionals who shall perform your test and submit to a local code inspector.

Which certifications do you hold?Power House holds an IDL (Infiltration & Duct Leakage) Certification with the Building Principles Institute. We also have a Virginia Building Code Inspector Certification with the ICC (International Code Council). BPI, IDL #5072001 ICC Building Code Cert. #10163307
